Lead work was traditionally the domain of the plumber, the Latin translation of lead is ‘plumdium’ meaning ‘worker in lead’. However lead work has now become a specialist trade.
Brian is a member of the Lead Contractor Association, the Chartered Institute of Plumbers and Heating Engineers and Trustmark. He is also a Heritage Skills Specialist Leadworker. Brian is a traditional plumber with all the relevant skills and qualifications; however there are no recognised credentials for the ornamental work he now creates, everything that Brian knows stems from intensely studying the lead work produced by plumbers many centuries ago.

- Bossing – the art of working lead
- Silver soldering
- Welding MIG (Metal Inert Gas)
- TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas)
- MMA (Manual Metal Arc)
- Traditional plumbing skills
